Bobby Lee calls Andrew Santino abusive on Bad Friends 341
Episode 341 went past the usual on-mic squabbling, and Santino went after Lee's father.
Bobby Lee told Andrew Santino he is abusive on Bad Friends Ep 341, recorded in Atlanta, Georgia. The episode, titled "Bobby Is Tone Tone Galore," has Lee saying he cried in the car on the way to the taping.
The pair bicker for a living, so the line between bit and real fight is usually clear enough. This one did not land there. Lee says "YOU'RE ABUSIVE" and later "YOU'RE BEING ABUSIVE," and he tells Santino "YOU DON'T HAVE A DAD." Santino hits back at Lee over his father, saying his own is still alive and telling Lee not to throw it on him.
What set it off
Part of the fight runs through a show where Santino forgot about a cancer patient in the crowd. His own account of it is that he completely forgot and then asked where cancer was. Lee's complaint is less about that moment than the pattern around it. His line is "YOU DIDN'T PROTECT ME FROM MYSELF."
Santino's answer, somewhere between confession and bit, is that he has moved on. He says he found a group of people in Atlanta who align with his beliefs, and he calls it the Brotherhood. He also debuts a character named Tone Tone Galore, who went to a gay conversion camp and is trying to get others to go, and who hurts people who refuse. That part is clearly a joke. The Brotherhood is harder to read, which is probably the point.
The rest of the episode
There is plenty of normal podcast around the fight. Santino describes taking what he thought was a micro dose of mushrooms and ending up on a mega trip, then calling Shane Gillis. Gillis describes Santino parked in the corner of the couch with wide eyes, just saying his own name.
Santino also talks about a film he is shooting, a 40-day movie being made in 22 days with 14-hour days, with Stamos and Heather Graham on set and Ralph Macchio as his boss. Lee, meanwhile, lays down a territorial rule about the guests on their shows, calling it his pool of people and the Bobby Lee universe.
Then the whole thing drifts into a bit about the end of the world, with Santino citing a 10 percent chance civilization is gone by the end of 2030 and Lee responding that he is going to get a gun and take a class.
The real story is that the usual bit framing never arrived for the abusive stuff. Two guys who fight on mic for money found the spot where the money stops helping.
