Erik Griffin says he was cut from SiriusXM's Raw Dog

The comic says the royalties kept people afloat, and that Sebastian Maniscalco had nothing to do with losing them.

Erik Griffin says he was one of the comics cut from SiriusXM's Raw Dog Comedy channel. He said it on The Fighter and the Kid Ep. 1228 with Brendan Schaub, the same episode where the two of them went back and forth on whether Sebastian Maniscalco or SiriusXM made the call. Griffin's answer was not complicated. It was SiriusXM.

The money part is the part that stings. Griffin says he was in the top 100 on the channel and that a lot of comics got royalties off it, and that those checks kept them afloat. Schaub put a number on the scale of it, saying 500 comics were cut, and said the people who dropped the ball here are SiriusXM, because they know what they are paying out. He also named Scott Greenstein as the person he thinks comics should be aiming at, calling him the highest ranking person directly relevant to programming.

Griffin takes Maniscalco's side

Plenty of comics have gone after Maniscalco over this. Griffin did not. He said he knew without seeing a shred of evidence that Maniscalco had nothing to do with it, then played a clip of Maniscalco saying it himself, that he had nothing to do with removing the comedy from SiriusXM and that it was a SiriusXM decision.

Griffin also did not play the whole thing as a tragedy. He said the idea that you were supposed to get this money forever is crazy, and he said the top 100 are now being paid out more than before. Schaub backed that up with the oldest note in the business, that residuals go away, and that sometimes a check shows up and you are surprised it still exists. Which is a strange position for a guy who just lost his, but Griffin seemed fine with it.

The rest of the episode is lighter. Griffin talked about his role in the movie Behemoth with Pedro Pascal, mentioned Skankfest dates and new merch, and read out a text from Chris D'Elia telling him to work out that he said made him emotional. He also described his two and a half year old son Wolf as mostly interested in fighting him.
