Luis Gomez says Enterprise banned him over cocaine post
The rental car story is old news. The ban is the part Gomez is telling people about now.
Luis J. Gomez says Enterprise banned him from renting their cars. The reason, according to him, is that he talked publicly about finding a baggie of cocaine in one of their rentals.
He resurfaced the original post himself. In it he wrote that he found the baggie in his rental a few weeks back while on his way to pick up his son from school, posted about it, and then heard from the company. His account of what happened next is the part that stings. He says Enterprise reached out and asked him to delete the post, and in exchange they would comp the rental. Then, he wrote, they retracted that offer and just gave him a discount instead.
The original post opened with a warning in capital letters telling people not to rent cars from Enterprise. Gomez is not exactly the type to quietly take the discount.
The new part
None of the cocaine stuff is news. The ban is. Gomez pinned it back to the top of the feed with one line, calling it a reminder that the company banned him from renting their cars for publicly talking about it. That is his claim, not a statement from Enterprise, and there is no response from the company in any of this.
The replies went exactly where you think
Somebody actually took the rental company's side. Jason Kimball, posting as @jasontpa, told Gomez he deserved the ban, arguing that a baggie could turn up in any rental car and that Gomez was hurting the company's name for no reason.
Gomez did not argue the point so much as frame it. He quote posted the reply with a single mock sad line about hurting a corporation, and left it there. That is the whole rebuttal. It is also the cleanest version of the fight, one guy annoyed he found drugs in a car he paid for, another guy worried about the brand.
The thing that makes the story work is the sequence Gomez lays out. A comped rental for silence, then no comped rental, then a ban. Whether Enterprise would describe it that way is not in anything he posted, and they have not said. What is in there is a comedian who found something he should not have found on a school pickup run, said so out loud, and is still bringing it up now because the company, by his telling, made him a customer they will not serve.
