Rudiments are the basic stick patterns drummers drill, over and over, until the hands stop thinking about it. Paradiddles, rolls, flams. It is the least glamorous part of playing drums and the part every drummer swears is the only part that matters. Announcing that you are going to go practice them is, in drummer terms, announcing that you are going to go eat vegetables.
No setup, no punchline, no follow-up
There is no thread under it. No explanation of what the clip is building toward, no tour date attached, no beef with anyone. Gomez wrote the line, attached the video and left.
That is worth saying out loud because the shape of the post looks like the front half of something. Comedians usually post a clip and a caption when the caption is doing work, teasing an episode, setting up a joke, quote tweeting someone they are about to dismantle. This one is doing none of that. It reads as a guy announcing his own hobby with the gravity of a press release, which is the joke.
The real story
Take it as a bit rather than news. Nothing in the post says Gomez is starting a band, quitting anything, learning drums for a special or doing it for any reason beyond wanting to. He did not say what the clip shows, and we are not going to guess for him.
