Charlamagne mediates the Dead Ass Comedy Show equity fight

Mouse Jones brought the Dead Ass Comedy Show dispute to Brilliant Idiots, in the episode titled "Alexx vs Mouse GETS HEATED, Capitalism Has Gone Wrong & Jay-Z Is The Face Of What???" Charlamagne tha God heard him out and relayed Alexx Media's side of it too. His read was a business fight that was really a talking fight.

The equity math

Mouse says the January 2024 idea for a black comedy show, modeled on Don't Tell Comedy and Def Jam, was his, and that Alexx took it. Alexx's side, as Charlamagne put it to him, is that Mouse asked to be involved later and that after three weeks of back and forth, Alexx offered 15%, then added another 5% out of his own stake to get Mouse to 20%.

That is where it stalled. Mouse says that as an equity partner he asked to see the business books, was not shown them, and stopped delivering content clips for the shows.

The 24 hour exit

Mouse says Alexx told him 24 hours before a performance that his VIP clients had taken all his equipment, which Mouse reads as payback for asking about the books. Alexx's account, relayed on the show, has it the other way, that Mouse pulled out 24 hours before a show over the equipment issue and never mentioned the books at all.

Charlamagne did not pick a side. "All I'm hearing is miscommunication. That's literally all I'm hearing," he said, before telling Mouse to cut it out because they clearly still like each other.

What it means

The show is still on the calendar. Dead Ass Comedy Show plays November 8th at Brooklyn Improv in Williamsburg for the New York Comedy Festival, with Corey Bell, Isaiah Kelly, Sydney Washington and Sam J on the bill.
