Sam Morril says he bombed a private gig in Corfu

Sam Morril went on Are You Garbage and led with a loss. He told hosts Kevin Ryan and H. Foley that he flew out to Corfu, Greece for a private event, expected it to go fine, and instead ate it. His words were that he bombed so hard at this guy's private event. Even his girlfriend fake laughing could not dig him out.

The episode is billed as Sam Morril's Guide to NYC, which is mostly true, but the Europe section is the fun part. In Copenhagen he tried a joke about making fun of pedophiles and, by his account, it got like zero. He offered a theory for why the room sat on their hands, noting that the age of consent there is 15. That is his line, not a fact check.

The apartment update

The New York stuff is a flex delivered very casually. Morril says he moved within his own building, just a higher floor, and that Matteo Lane is in the old one as his downstairs neighbor. He owns the place, a three bedroom in Manhattan, though he was quick to deflate it by saying it is weirdly shaped so it is not like a real three. One bedroom has a sauna in it. One is an office. One is a guest room with a couch.

He also talked about killing hangovers by swimming laps, rec center memberships at about 150 bucks for the year, and YMCA day passes around nine bucks. On tour he says Ver Gary Veto opens for him and really helps with the rider, which mostly means picking restaurants. His rider includes mixed nuts and dried mangoes, which he does not like, because the mango ends up in his teeth on stage.

Why now

The hook is the special. On the podcast Morril said Incorrect drops Tuesday, and he posted that it was out the next day. He also listed upcoming dates including San Diego, Phoenix, the Pittsburgh Improv, and Hilarities in Cleveland in December, with the rest on his website.

The real story is a comedian with a Netflix hour opening his press run with the night he died in Greece. It is a good instinct. Nobody clicks for the good gigs.
