The joke is the format
What makes it work is that Redban did not try to top the bit. He copied it. Hans Kim built a template, name plus cake plus dumb reason, and Redban just filled in the blanks and hit send. It is the kind of exchange that reads like a text thread that accidentally happened in public.
Redban tagged Hans Kim directly in the reply, so there was no ambiguity about who it was aimed at. Nothing in either post suggests actual friction. It is two guys who clearly know each other doing crowd work on one another with no crowd.
Nobody else got involved
The part worth noting is what did not happen. No pile on, no quote tweets from other comics adding a third cake, no apology thread, no clarification the next morning. The exchange started and stopped with the two of them, which is rare enough on comedy Twitter to be its own small news item.
Read straight, Redban's line is a slur-adjacent insult. Read the way it was obviously meant, it is a playground comeback between two people who trade worse than that off mic. Take it as a bit, because that is plainly what it is.
Neither post came with a show plug, a date, or a link to anything. No podcast episode spawned it. It is a self-contained two post argument about cake, and the funniest thing about it is that both men committed fully to the premise and then walked away.
