Mark Normand grabbed Conan's tie, mic and all
Sam Morril's review of the move on tape was short and not kind.
Mark Normand wiped his forehead with Conan O'Brien's tie on his first Conan appearance. The microphone was taped to the tie. Conan noticed.
Normand told the story on We Might Be Drunk, the episode with Matteo Lane and Nick Smith, and his own account is that nerves did it. "I took Conan's tie. I dabbed my forehead because I was like so keyed up and just adrenaline rush," he said. Sam Morril, sitting right there, gave it the review it deserved. "That was a bad moment."

What Conan actually said
By Normand's telling, Conan asked him what he was doing and pointed out the obvious problem. "My mic's on there. What are you doing?" Normand says he apologized. He also says Conan told him "You're messing up the show" and followed it with "Don't do that again."
The punchline is the return trip. Normand says he went back about a year later, walked in worried about the tie, and got nothing. "I did it again like a year later and you're like, 'Hey, is he going to be mad about the tie?' He's like, 'Who are you?'" No grudge, no memory, no Mark Normand.
The rest of the episode
The tie story is one stop on a long episode. Matteo Lane talked about Bert Hosiery, who ran Zanies in Chicago, and says he got chewed out in front of the other comics before Hosiery told his agent "Well, then Matteo's never working again," banning him from his home club for years. Morril says something similar happened to him and that Hosiery "made an example out of me." Lane credits Amy Schumer with putting him on the road and getting him some money. Morril named Ted Alexandro and Schumer for the same thing.
There is also a long argument about surviving in the woods. Normand claimed 10 days, Morril said 8, and Nick Smith insisted on 6 months because adrenaline would take over. Normand and Morril kept calling that delusional. Smith also lost several left-handed arm-wrestling matches to Normand, says he has never had a drink or done drugs, and reported that he goes to Chipotle every day and sits in the top 0.01 percent of customers nationwide by visits.
Normand used the episode to announce his Netflix special drops September 29th. Presumably nobody's microphone is taped to anything.
