Luis J. Gomez says daily weed smokers don't get high
A stranger's anti stoned driving post turned into a day of Gomez replies at his own expense.
It started with a post from @teacherinri, who wrote that smoking weed while driving is at least as dangerous as drinking while driving, and called it extremely irresponsible.
Luis J. Gomez replied with a tolerance argument. His line was that tolerance varies very widely and that if you are a daily smoker, you do not actually get high. That is his claim, not a study, and he did not cite one.
The driving record part
The thread then moved from weed to Gomez's own history behind the wheel. He said he has not been in an accident in almost two years, and that weed was never the cause. It was distracted driving every time, he wrote, before adding in brackets that he was currently driving while writing it.
That parenthetical is the joke. He is casting himself as precisely the guy the original poster is mad at, which is a lot funnier than arguing the point straight. Read it as a confession and you have missed the bit.
Enter the reply guy
@joefreeland1971 was not charmed. He said Gomez was flexing like not wrecking in two years is an accomplishment, pointed out that the average person gets into an accident roughly every 20 years, and told Gomez he has had enough to last 10 lifetimes.
Gomez did not mount a defence. He answered with a meme, then followed it with a four word dismissal, telling @joefreeland1971 he was getting boring, doggie.
That is the whole arc. A stranger posts a safety take, a comedian turns up with a pedantic counterpoint, the counterpoint collapses into a self own, and a second stranger tries to score a point and gets waved off with an image file.
None of it is a feud in any real sense. It is Gomez doing what he does on the timeline, which is take a scolding reply and keep pulling on it until it becomes a bit, with himself as the punchline and the reply guys as unpaid straight men.
Tolerance varies very widely. If you’re a daily smoker, you don’t actually get high.
